Star 123

Star 123, our 1st, 2nd and 3rd Grade youth group is a great way to make new friends and hang out with everyone you love from J-PLEx, while doing fun and exciting activities! We meet one Sunday a month, after J-PLEx, from 12:00-3:00. These meetings include lunch and a fun program. Some programs are based at Temple Judea and others are offsite.

Star 123 is a wonderful first taste of youth group at Temple Judea! This is place where friendships and memories are made that last a lifetime.

JTY Jr.

JTY Jr is an awesome way to stay connected to your Temple Judea crew during the craziness of b'nai mitzvah preparations. We meet on Wednesdays, after J-PLEx, from 6:30 to 8:00. We always have dinner an a crazy program.

Middle school is a really busy time and JTY Jr is a great way to relax, have fun, and strengthen friendships. In addition to all of the exciting programming happening in JTY Jr, our 6th-8th Graders can also participate in NFTY-STR 678 events! This year we will be joining other Temples in our region for NFTY Hatikvah Kallah in Tampa from November 9-11. It will be a weekend of Shabbat, fun activities, and bonding. We hope you can make it!

JTY

JTY, our senior youth group, also meets on Monday nights after Judea High, from 8:00-9:00, and is open to all 8th-12th graders. JTY is a youth led, adult advised organization with a student board who plans all of the events over the year. One or two Monday nights a month, JTY will have a fun, exciting program for all of our participants after Judea High. There will also be trips, conventions, and many programming opportunities throughout the year for JTY members. You can expect everything from game night to ice skating to social action, so there is something for everyone. Please plan on making JTY a part of your Monday night!

This year, our teens will also have the opportunity to serve as counselors for our 3rd-5th grade sleepover! Contact Sarah B. Cotler, Experiential Education Director, for more information at s.cotler@judeagables.org or 305.667.5657.

NFTY (North American Federation of Temple Youth)

NFTY, North American Federation of Temple Youth, is the URJ’s (Union for Reform Judaism) teen movements. “As the URJ Youth's signature year-round program, more than 8,000 6th through 12th graders participate in NFTY programs that teach compassion, fight injustice, engage with Israel, and build community. NFTY is the safe, home-away-from-home that inspires our teens to become their best selves and empowers them to change the world” (www.nfty.org).

JTY (Judea Temple Youth) is a part of NFTY, specifically NFTY-STR, which serves Jewish teens from the Keys to Central Florida. There are 19 NFTY regions and we come together as NFTY-STR many times over the course of the year. Please see the schedule below for all of the great NFTY events this year!

Rosh Hodesh

Rosh Hodesh is a monthly club for 7th-9th grade girls to come together to talk, learn, craft, and eat. We will talk about some of the issues facing teen girls today, as well as learn about what it means to be a Jewish feminist in the world today. This is a great club for any girl who is not sure about her next step as a Jewish woman after her Bat Mitzvah. We will join together for dinner and discussion after J-PLEx. Rosh Hodesh is a national program provided by Moving Traditions.

We hope you will join us to strengthen our community and learn about yourself!

Shevet Achim

Shevet Achim meets monthly and is a club for 8th-10th grade boys. It is a space for Temple Judea boys to spend time together, share, and learn about what it means to them to be a Jewish man. There will be opportunities to talk about sports, tv, money, advertising, and more, all while spending time with Temple Judea friends. Shevet Achim is also a part of the Moving Traditions research based teen curriculum.
