About our Czech Torah

This Torah was brought from Temple Shir Ami when Shir Ami merged with Temple Judea.  This Torah was recovered from the Holocaust 1963 and kept with 1563 other Holocaust Torahs by the Memorial Scrolls Trust at the Westminster Synagogue, in London, England.  It bears their record number 964.  It was earlier, the Torah of Dobris, which now in the Czech Republic.  It was probably written in Bet Yoseph script, and dates from the later portion of the 19th Century.

In 2007, 300 Temple Judea families, in accordance with the 613th Mitzvot, each wrote a letter in this Torah, under the supervision of Rabbi Gedaliah Druin, to bring it back to life.
