Temple Judea’s approach to religious education led to the creation of J-PLEx: The Jewish Play and Learning Experience. Through active learning and the best of experiential education, we don’t learn about Jewish, we do Jewish. This comprehensive program grows with your child’s changing educational and developmental needs. We are exceptionally proud of our program and our faculty. Planning is well underway for a dynamic and exciting year of learning. We hope your family will be part of the J-PLEx community at Temple Judea. Families can register for J-PLEx by logging into their ShulCloud and clicking the 'Start Enrollment' button.

JPLEx Brit At Temple Judea, we strive to create a religious youth community based on mutual respect and a sense of personal wellbeing. Temple Judea students and Youth Group participants will treat others with kavod (honor and respect) because we are created b’tzelem Elohim (in the image of God). We want our children to feel safe and comfortable while here for learning, worship, or socializing. All students and participants must read the Brit Kehillah and must indicate their complete acceptance of these rules by their signatures, as well as by the signatures of their parents. We expect the following from our students and families at Temple Judea:

  • Exhibit respectful behavior that contributes to maintaining a positive learning environment
  • Demonstrate courtesy
  • Behave in a responsible manner
  • Attend classes regularly and arrive on time
  • Obey all class rules
  • Respect the rights and privileges of all students, teachers, advisors, administrators, and parents
  • Dress appropriately for study and worship
  • Remain in designated supervised areas
  • Respect the property of others, including Temple Judea property and its facilities We have developed the following steps toward maintaining a desirable and safe learning environment when negative behavior is displayed.
  • Inappropriate behavior will be discussed between the student and the teacher or counselor.
  • At the discretion of the teacher or counselor, the student will be sent to an administrator. Parents will be called if the child cannot return to class without causing disruption.
  • The student may be asked to write an explanation and have it signed by the parent and returned to school.
  • If negative behavior persists, parents may be asked to monitor the student’s classes and assist in teaching acceptable classroom practices.
  • Serious actions may be addressed on a case-by-case basis. The use of cell phones and other unapproved electronic devices in Religious School classes is prohibited. All devices must be turned off and may be collected by the teacher or counselor. Students may use the phone in the Education Office should they need to make a call during school time. Parents may call the Education Office to deliver a message to their child.
  • Attendance in school is vital to the success of the student’s progress. Temple Judea recognizes that there are many competing priorities in the lives of families today and that students will need to miss class from time to time. The Education Office will be in touch with the student’s parents about the course of action for excessive absences.
  • Fighting, foul language, and violent acts will not be tolerated. Students will not participate in any activities that could be deemed as bullying, demeaning, or hurtful, including electronically. Vandalism, disturbing the peace, illegal acts, or other inappropriate behavior is not acceptable. The family of a student who damages personal or Temple property will be financially responsible.
  • Temple Judea does not tolerate the use or possession of drugs, alcohol, tobacco products, or weapons. A student’s possession of any of these items, other than an emergency inhaler or EpiPen approved by the Temple, is grounds for immediate expulsion from J-PLEx, Judea High and Temple Judea Youth Groups.
  • In order for a student to drive to, during, or from offsite events, advance permission needs to be requested by a parent/guardian and granted by the Director of Education and/or Experiential Education Director.
  • Guests are welcome at the JPLEx and Temple Judea Youth Groups; however, advance permission from an administrator is required for guests to attend events. Unauthorized guests may be asked to leave.

Please refer to and sign the green Policies & Procedures form included with your registration packet indicating that you have read and will adhere to the terms of the Brit Kehillah.
