A Caring Touch

Temple Judea's Chesed (loving kindness) Group with Cantorial Soloist Jodi Rozental

These days, we are reminded all too often of the uncertain times in which we are living. Add the personal challenges that many of us are facing – illness, divorce, loss, care-giving, financial hardship, transition – we are struggling to find meaning in all of this; and we are searching for comfort and hope.

Temple Judea is blessed to have a chesed (loving kindness) group lovingly named: A Caring Touch. We are here to serve our community during times of simchaas well as times of hardship and challenge. A task force 35-plus strong, we offer just that, “a caring touch” during a time of need or a time of celebration:

    • Challah delivery on Shabbat after a death.
    • Delivery of meals and baked goods
    • Home and hospital visits
    • Soul Stitchers’ hand-knitted healing wraps for those we visit
    • Comfort bags of snacks and tissues placed into the limousines during funerals
    • Shiva minyan set up
    • Rides to temple for Shabbat services
    • Note cards and calls

Soul Stitchers

Temple Judea’s Soul Stitchers has been formed to create healing wraps/prayer shawls for the members of our Temple community who are going through a difficult, or significant time in their lives. The purpose of making a prayer shawl is to weave good thoughts, healing, hope and love into the piece so it will comfort and warm the recipient. The shawls are created by members of the Temple and distributed by Rabbi Siegal and Rabbi Fisch. For more information, contact Beth Young or Irene Hollander.
