Worship Committee

The goal of the Worship Committee is to work with the clergy to offer a rich, meaningful worship experience to our Temple Judea family. We encourage input from Temple members, providing opportunities for clergy and congregants to work together and evaluate worship issues such as music, sacred space, programming, outreach to congregants, and lay participation. An example of how the needs of the community were brought to the attention of the Rabbi and the committee and were then addressed is the Saturday morning minyan and Torah study. It has evolved into a beautiful and moving experience that has special significance to everyone who attends.

Some of the projects the Worship Committee is involved in this year are:

  • Organizing greeters for every Friday night service.
Inviting people to offer the Motzi and the candle blessing when there is no Bar or Bat Mitzvah the next day.
  • Facilitating Days of Awe Honors.
  • Organizing home-baked desserts for special oneg Shabbat.
  • Putting together a Days of Awe pamphlet with information on services and programs for the season and for the coming year.

In addition, at times we work together with the Membership and the Program Committees to bring specific events to fruition. The Worship Committee continues to reevaluate our worship experience in order to be sure that, as the congregation’s worship needs change and grow, we respond appropriately. In the fall of 2004, after the conclusion of the Days of Awe, we will participate in the evaluation of the new prayerbook.
