On Yom Kippur Afternoon at Temple Judea, from 1:15 pm to 2:15 pm Dr. Dominique Reill of the University of Miami will speak. The title of her remarks: Understanding Reform Judaism’s Historical Context: Nineteenth Century European’s Response to Modernity. This presentation is in light of the two hundredth birthday of Reform Judaism that we are celebrating this year. Dr. Reill’s academic focus is on political, economic, and cultural change in 19th-century Europe. Dr. Reill received her Bachelor’s degree from UC Berkeley in 1997, during which time she also studied at the Università di Bologna. She received her Ph.D. from Columbia University in 2007. Prior to coming to Miami, she taught at both Columbia and New York Universities.
