Philosophy

Temple Judea believes that the Jewish texts we call Torah can help suffuse our lives with greater meaning, goodness, and awareness. We seek to engage ourselves in the classic texts of our people in order to become better human beings, as well as to grow more learned in the sacred literature and cultural language of our people. It’s been said that “nature makes us the same, but education makes us different.” We strive to educate ourselves to be different; to be wiser, nobler, and more sensitive to the challenges and joys of life. We envision Torah becoming a more significant part of the lives of every congregant at every age. The intent of our learning is to bring an awareness of Jewish texts and values into the deliberations of our leadership, into the classrooms of our school and adult education programs, and, most importantly, to the tables in our congregants' homes.
