Women of Temple Judea

The Women of Temple Judea (WTJ) is the women's auxiliary group within the Temple. We are part of the national organization Women of Reform Judaism (WRJ). We encourage educational and spiritual growth from women's perspective. We are women of every age and at every stage of life. As a diverse group within our congregation, there is a place and program for everyone. Click here to download our Volunteer Form.

Join Women of Temple Judea

Every female member of Temple Judea should have received membership information. Our membership fee is $40, a portion of which is shared with District 13 Southeast Federation of Temple Sisterhoods, Camp Coleman and the Women of Reform Judaism and their national projects.  Mail your check payable to WTJ Membership to the temple office. Click here to download the Membership Form.

WTJ Book Club
WTJ book group will meet on Thursday, May 20, at 7:30 PM to discuss Colm Toibin’s novel Brooklyn.  (Our meeting place is to be announced.)  The author is well known for his excellent writing, and a previous novel, The Master, was chosen as one of the ten best books of the year by the New York Times during the year it was published.  Brooklyn is “a hauntingly beautiful and heartbreaking novel set in Brooklyn and Ireland in the early 1950’s, when one young woman crosses the ocean to make a new life for herself.” Published in 2009, the book is 262 pages in hardcover and is now available in paperback.  Please contact Judy Siskind (jsiskind@yahoo.com) with any questions about this meeting.

WTJ Update

Our meetings are open to all. Check the website calendar for dates and times. I'm looking forward to seeing you soon at one of our activites!

TUTORS NEEDED

Toussaint Louverture Elementary School this Fall.  If you have a few hours to spare in your week, or biweekly, the children could really use your help.  No tutoring experience is necessary!

Our tutors are making a difference in the lives of these children.  In the words of the Principal of the school, “We know that the support of the wonderful tutors from Temple Judea has contributed toward the amazing achievement (being recognized as a “A” school) of our students.”  We’re planning to start tutoring in October.

If you are interested in becoming a classroom volunteer, or for more information, please contact Jane Zahn at 305 984-4022 or janerhub@bellsouth.net or Tracey Waldman at 305 283-4064 or swaldman@bellsouth.net.
