Marsha Botkin, a member of our congregation, is our Executive Director. Marsha began her position at Temple Judea on August 10, 2005.
Marsha has worked as a Jewish communal professional for the past thirty years, beginning her career as the Recreation Director at the Jewish Home for Aged in her native Detroit, Michigan. After moving to Miami, she was employed by the Dave & Mary Alper Jewish Community Center serving in many different capacities including the Adult/Cultural Arts Director, the Children and Family Group Services Director, Camp Director, and finally as the Assistant Executive Director. She was awarded the Jewish Community Centers Association Professional of the Year award for the Southern Region.
She initiated many new programs including the popular Jewish Book Fair, a Children’s Performing Arts series, major community-wide events, and camping programs for over 800 children each summer. She also wrote and implemented numerous state and county grants.
Marsha has an undergraduate degree in Education from Wayne State University and a Master Degree in Human Resources for Not for Profit Organizations from Barry University. She is currently a member of the National Association of Temple Administrators.
Marsha and her husband Leon have two children, Emily and David, and have been members of Temple Judea for the past three years. She achieved a long time goal when she was part of the Temple Judea 2004 B’nai Mitzvah class. In her spare time she enjoys reading, quilting, exercise, and relaxing with family and friends.
She is happy that she has been able to bring her managerial skills to Temple Judea and she continues to work to create a positive and caring community.
