Rabbi Judith Lazarus Siegal, originally from New Orleans, was ordained from the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in New York in May of 2006 with a Masters in Hebrew Literature. She is one of the rabbis at Temple Judea in Coral Gables, FL.
During her rabbinical training, she served a variety of communities, including the NYU Bronfman Center Hillel for two years, Chavurat Tikvah (a group of families meeting in each others’ homes for worship, study, and celebration), and Woodlands Community Temple in Ardsley, New York.
Prior to rabbinical school, she received a Master’s degree in Social Work and holds a B.A. in English from University of Texas, Austin.
Rabbi Siegal has done a great deal of teaching of all ages in both formal and informal settings, working at four of the URJ summer camps through the last ten years. She served as the Assistant Director of URJ Southwest Region prior to going to rabbinical school.
Rabbi Siegal enjoys teaching students of all ages at Temple Judea, from preschoolers in our Margaux Early Childhood School through our adult Torah study groups on Saturdays and Monday mornings, including religious school students of various grade levels. Rabbi Siegal is involved in programming, worship services, holiday celebrations and life cycle events throughout the synagogue community.
Rabbi Siegal currently serves on the Rabbinical Association of Greater Miami, on the board of the South Dade Federation, and as a Board member of Planned Parenthood, and she is involved as a committee member for Shalom Bayit of Greater Miami. Rabbi Siegal also serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of the CCAR (Central Conference of American Rabbis) and on the Conference Planning Committee of the CCAR.
Rabbi Siegal is married to Brian Siegal, who is the Director of the American Jewish Committee of Miami, and they have three children, Benjamin, Joshua and Ella.
