Rabbi Goldberg & Rabbi Siegal visit congregants in the hospital, extended care facilities, and hospices. In the past, information on our members had been relatively easy to obtain from these health care providers. In an effort to comply with the laws and avoid potential legal exposure, the major providers in our area have made it a policy not to release names of patients in their facilities.
In order to ensure that members who are ill receive a visit, the Temple staff must be notified of any member who is in a hospital or other care facility. Today many medical procedures are handled on an “out-patient” basis, so please let us know if you or another congregant needs a visit from the rabbi. It is helpful to know:
- The name of the member
- The hospital or care facility and the patient’s room number
- The length of the anticipated stay
- Your relationship to the patient.
